LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A winter torm moving into the region late Thursday is expected to drop a general 2 to 5 inches of snow for many areas, with the prime snow window from 10 p.m. tonight through noon Friday.

Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect across parts of central and eastern Kentucky.

I expect the heaviest snow during the overnight hours into Friday morning. The storm will diminish by midday Friday, but another snow maker is expected to arrive late Saturday, bringing additional accumulations in some areas.

Officials warned that travel could become hazardous during the overnight and morning commutes Friday, and that road crews will be working to keep major routes passable
