EUGENE, Ore. - A Eugene man is facing serious charges in connection to a mugging that took place in Alton Baker Park over 18 months ago.

Taynen Willis, 26, stands charged with second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and menacing. These charges relate to a July 2024 incident where a 19-year-old was attacked and robbed of his bicycle. The victim sustained a severe head injury and bruised ribs after reportedly being beaten with a metal pipe.

Willis is not the only suspect involved in this case. Ireland Marie Spain, 19, from Springfield, was convicted of menacing last year. Mark Roberts, 23, pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree assault in October and is currently serving a 70-month sentence in state prison.
