GLENDALE, Ky. — Ford Motor and South Korea’s SK Innovation Co. are ending their U.S. battery-making joint venture, Gov. Andy Beshear, D-Ky., said in a news briefing Thursday.
Beshear said Ford will take over all operations at Kentucky’s two battery plants.
“I remain optimistic about the future of these facilities, but there is no question that actions taken out of Washington, D.C.. by this current administration and Congress has made it much more complicated and may make it take longer to achieve the desired results that we have in those two factories,” Beshear said.
The governor said the state is talking with Ford to understand the company’s next steps.
Ford said in a statement :
“We are aware of SK’s disclosure and we have nothing further to share at this time.”
