The UK Government has dismissed demands in an online petition advocating for the establishment of a new tax code designed specifically for those beyond State Pension age. Petition organiser Timothy Hugh Mason suggested increasing the existing Personal Allowance from £12,570 to £25,140 exclusively for pensioners.
In a formal reply published on the Petitions Parliament website, The Treasury acknowledged that the State Pension serves as the "foundation of support for pensioners" whilst noting that "doubling the Personal Allowance for pensioners would be untargeted and costly".
