HAYWARD, Calif. -- At least six people were taken to the hospital Thursday morning after a massive explosion caused a large fire in Hayward, California, fire officials say.
The Alameda County Fire Department says crews responded to the three-alarm fire. Eight engines and two trucks were on scene. It happened around 9:30 a.m., just hours after a construction crew damaged a gas line.
Fire officials believe two of the six people injured were workers in the street. The conditions of all the people taken to the hospital are unknown.
