Police have identified a man who died in 2019 as the offender in the historical murders of three women in Ontario.
In a news conference at Toronto police headquarters on Thursday, investigators identified Kenneth Smith, now deceased, as the offender in the murders of Christine Prince, in 1982, Claire Samson, in 1983 and Gracelyn Greenidge, in 1997.
The long-sought identification was made in December, using genetic genealogy — an emerging investigative technique that’s risen to prominence through recent arrests in high-profile U.S. cold cases.
