“Life has been more eventful and unpredictable over the past few years than I would ever have imagined,” suburban Detroit-born designer Corey Damen Jenkins writes in the introduction to his new coffee table book, “ Design Reimagined” A Fresh and Colorful Take on Timeless Rooms. ” (Rizzoli; $50).

Born and raised in the Motor City — Auburn and Rochester Hills, to be exact — Jenkins built a design business in Michigan and operated offices in both Detroit and New York City before deciding during the pandemic to close his flagship studio and move to the Big Apple. Since then, he has taken the design world by storm, with creative partnerships with major manufacturers, recognition in top magazines and projects around the country.
