A suspect shot a deputy amid a burglary investigation Thursday in a Margate neighborhood, officials said.
The shooting happened in the 6100 block of Northwest 2nd Street, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
The BSO's Burglary Apprehension Team was investigating in the area when the deputy-involved shooting occurred, officials said.
Officials said the suspect struck the deputy, who was wearing a bulletproof vest and was not seriously injured.
The suspect was also struck and was transported by paramedics to the hospital along with the deputy. The suspect's condition was unknown.
