HAMPTON, Va. — Drivers traveling overnight on I-64 east in Hampton should plan for major delays next week. Beginning as early as Tuesday night, Dec. 17, contractor crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will implement full directional closures on I-64 east to support overhead sign installation for the Hampton Roads Express Lanes (HREL) Hampton Segment project.

Full Closures on I-64 East

All lanes on I-64 east will be closed for up to four hours, from 12:01 a.m. to 4 a.m., on:

Wednesday, Dec. 17

Thursday, Dec. 18

Backup date: Friday, Dec. 19

The closure will stretch from Rip Rap Road (exit 265C) to Settlers Landing Road/Woodland Road (exit 267). A signed detour will guide drivers off I-64 east at Rip Rap Road, then along North Armistead Avenue and Settlers Landing
