The Memphis Grizzlies will be without their towering Canadian centre for an extended stretch.
Zach Edey will be re-evaluated in four weeks with a stress reaction in his left ankle, the Grizzlies announced on Thursday.
Edey’s agent Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports and Entertainment said that “this is a management plan to optimize Zach’s long-term health in consultation with the Grizzlies and medical experts,” ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Thursday.
The seven-foot-three big man is averaging 13.6 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks over 11 games thus far in his sophomore season. This included a torrid streak over this last six games where Edey has put up 16.5 points, 14 rebounds and 2.2 blocks, punctuated by a 32-point, 17-rebound, five-block performance against the Sacramento King
