WAVERLY, Iowa — Waverly is set to kick off its annual "Christmas on Main" event on Thursday evening, marking the occasion with a special celebration for the newly rebuilt Bremer Avenue Bridge. The festivities begin at 6 p.m. at the south end of Kohlmann Park.
The bridge, which opened to traffic two weeks ago after nearly 18 months of construction, will be officially celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Following the ceremony, attendees can enjoy free hot cocoa, visits with Santa, and ice carving. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display at 8 p.m.
