The owner of a bowling alley and arcade in Milford was charged Wednesday with COVID-19 relief fraud for allegedly using a $1.5 million federal loan meant for business purposes to build a home and buy new vehicles, prosecutors said.

David Breen, 54, lives in Mount Pleasant, S.C. , and owns PiNZ Bowl on South Main Street, Leah B. Foley, US Attorney for Massachusetts, said in a statement.

According to charging documents filed in US District Court in Worcester, Breen is facing one count of theft of government funds for allegedly misappropriating most of a $1.5 million federal pandemic relief loan he received in March 2022.

Breen spent more than $1.2 million of the money to build a home in South Carolina, as well as $111,000 to buy a truck, and $98,289 to buy a Mercedes-Benz, prosecutors sai
