ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Before its closure in 2022, Atlanta police responded to the Encore Hookah Bar and Bistro near the Georgia Aquarium almost 200 times.

One of those incidents was the killing of Deandre “Padre” Houston.

On Jan. 7, 2021, Houston was shot and killed outside the bar.

For nearly five years, his mother, Kischa Houston, has grieved over the death of her only son.

“You could have gotten his car. He would not have cared. You could have gotten anything out of his pockets, but you took the most important thing from him and that was his life, and it was senseless,” Kischa Houston said.

The Atlanta Police Department (APD) named Kmauri Burnett a prime suspect in Deandre “Padre” Houston’s murder and one of APD’s most wanted.
