GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The YWCA has launched its “Building Better Futures” campaign after receiving a significant grant to renovate a former elementary school into a child care facility.
The campaign will fund renovations of the former Starr Elementary School building. John and Deanna Scoot Foundation is offering community members the opportunity to have donations to the YWCA matched until July 2027.
The YWCA plans to transform the building into a facility that can serve 300 children. The campaign addresses the struggle families face finding child care options in the community.
Addressing critical childcare shortage
“We are so excited about this project. And it’s not just about YWCA. It’s about what this is going to do for the community,” Amy Bennett, executive director of the YWC
