AUSTIN, Texas — An Austin driver is facing a felony charge after police say he nearly hit a child getting off an Austin ISD school bus in October.
According to Austin ISD police, the incident was captured by multiple stop-arm cameras installed on the school bus, showing the close call on Oct. 8 when a truck drove off the road toward a student.
AISD Police Chief Wayne Sneed said the bus was dropping off a student on Old San Antonio Road when the driver made a dangerous choice.
In the video, the driver can be seen driving off the paved road into the grassy median and passing the school bus on the passenger side while the student was exiting the bus, nearly hitting them.
