KATY, Texas — After months of recovery, 20 italian greyhounds rescued from a puppy mill in Smith County are now up for adoption.
Back in September, 44 dogs were found living in poor conditions at a home on FM 345 near Troup. They were turned over to Smith County Animal Control, and later to breed-specific rescue groups who have been working non-stop to nurse them back to health.
After months of recovery, they're now ready to find their new forever home. Doctor Joyce Li and her team at PawDoc Surgery + Dental Center in Katy have been overseeing their recovery.
"Some of them were pretty timid," Li said. "Judging by their medical records have a lot of parasites going on. They had a pretty significant hookworm infestation going on in every dog."
