BULLARD, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation has announced some safety changes to the intersection of FM 2493 E (Old Jacksonville Highway) and US Highway 69, south of Bullard, coming later this month.

According to the TxDOT Tyler District, the speed limit in this area will be reduced to 45 mph starting Friday, Dec. 19. After that, message boards will be placed to alert drivers about the installation of a temporary traffic signal to be added to the intersection.

Then, on Monday, Jan. 5, the temporary traffic signal at US 69 and FM 2493 will be activated for better traffic flow and safety. The agency said the changes are a part of the larger FM 2493 improvement project. This includes a new overpass and realignment of FM 2493.
