BOSTON —

A Massachusetts State Police crisis negotiator recently rescued a man in distress on the Tobin Bridge in Boston.

Body camera video released by state police showed parts of the tense situation.

The negotiator, Trooper Charles, could be seen successfully facilitating the rescue, telling the victim, "You're never alone."

With the help of the Chelsea Fire Department and other law enforcement entities, the victim was removed from the bridge.

The victim told law enforcement on the ground that Charles is a hero.

State police said they're sharing the video to raise awareness of the importance of mental health, especially around the holidays.
