Joplin High School's girls basketball team led most of its opening round game of the 29th annual Freeman Lady Eagle Classic against Blue Valley West High School on Thursday, but the last 42 seconds saw Blue Valley claim a 45-40 win at Kaminsky Gymnasium.
The Eagles claimed an early 4-0 lead with buckets by Payton Cunningham and Alissa Owens and later increased their lead to 8-2 off an Owens' turn-around jumper in the paint with 4:22 left in the first quarter. ×
