A Brantford judge compared his own history with fentanyl, calling it a “wonder drug” when given by an anaesthetist, but chastising a Six Nations dealer for creating “lost souls” with his dealing.
Justice Gethin Edward had fentanyl administered twice when his heart was in a-fibrillation.

“I hate fentanyl – on the street. It is a wonder drug when it’s administered in a hospital setting. On the street, not so much. It kills.”
Edward said dealers have created a situation where local streets are “littered with the walking dead”.
He commended Darrell Porter, 34, for the steps he’s taken toward rehabilitation since being arrested in May 2024 with almost five ounces of fentanyl and a loaded handgun, but pondered the devastation Porter may have caused.
