The Game Awards kicked off Thursday with a massive reveal: a new Star Wars game that goes back to the days of the Old Republic and will be helmed by one of the industry's most prominent directors.

Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is a new game set in the titular Old Republic, which existed thousands of years before the Star Wars films. Game Awards host Geoff Keighley described it as a single-player RPG, directed by Casey Hudson, the director of 2003's Knights of the Old Republic and the Mass Effect series.
