A three-judge Supreme Court bench will hear pleas by online gaming companies challenging the Centre's Online Gaming Law in January 2026. Online gaming companies have approached Chief Justice of India Surya Kant seeking an urgent hearing on their petitions demanding a stay and quashing of the law banning online money games.

Acting on the request, the CJI on Thursday, December 11, directed that the batch of pleas will be listed before a three-judge Bench for hearing in January 2026, marking the first time that the apex court will take up arguments on the industry's challenge. Though several petitions have been pending for months, the top court has not yet heard the parties seeking interim relief against the new law.
