A six-year-old Class I student was killed after a massive fire broke out at the hostel of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalaya in Taktsang, Tawang, early Thursday morning.

The blaze, suspected to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit, spread rapidly through the wooden hostel structure, leaving little time for evacuation. Many children were asleep when the fire erupted.

The flames engulfed wooden planks and furniture, trapping several students inside. In a courageous act, Class VIII student Dorjee Tsomu and hostel warden Nima Lhamu managed to rescue multiple children. However, six-year-old Choine Tsomu, a Class I student, could not be saved.
