TRUCKEE, Calif. —
A Truckee snowboarder's career is on the fast track to the Winter Olympics.
At 18, Hanna Percy is the youngest member of the U.S. snowboard cross pro team.
Snowboard cross pits four to six athletes together on a course filled with bumps, rollers and obstacles.
"I get to do big air jumps pretty much while also racing other people down the course," says Hanna . "I think the pressure of people racing with you, I feel like, just makes you ride better."
Athletes leave the gate at the same time. The goal? Hanna says, "Outrun everybody down to the bottom.
Hanna grew up in Truckee, CA. Her parents were pro snowboarders in the nineties. Her mom says Hanna's need for speed showed up early, and it didn't take her long to pass her mother on the hill.
