A shocking and scary cockpit audio of the Alaska Airlines flight shares moments when former Alaska Airlines pilot Joseph Emerson tried to shut down its engine in October 2023. He attempted to bring down a commercial flight with 84 people on board.

He was riding as a passenger in the plane’s cockpit during a Horizon Air flight from Everett, Wash., to San Francisco. As per the reports, Emerson was off-duty and riding in the jumpseat when he tried to pull the fire suppression handles.

The pilot and co-pilot restrained Emerson and made a safe landing at Portland International Airport. Emerson was arrested at the airport.
