At the Budget last month, Chancellor Rachel Reeves cut green levies in a bid to reduce household energy bills for millions of families.

The move, which involved moving wind and solar subsidies from electricity bills into general taxation, was among the measures that will save billpayers £150 from April .

She also announced changes to the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and Renewables Obligation (RO) schemes – which are currently funded through costs to bills. ECO funding will end in March next year and 75 per cent of RO costs will now be funded from general taxation.
