Ireview restaurants for a living, but even I struggle to get in to some of the city’s hottest places.

After blowing up on social media and being hailed as a ‘must-try’ everyone and their mother will be desperate to nab a table, and it can feel like you have to sign over your first-born child in order to secure a booking.

People wait weeks or months for a spot to open up, or if the place doesn’t allow reservations, they’ll find themselves standing outside on the street for hours – we recently saw people waiting for up to five hours to try Crisp Pizza’s new site at The Marlborough.

And queues still form outside Dishoom daily, with waits of up to an hour at peak times even though the restaurant chain has been going strong since 2010.
