The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has confirmed the UK economy shrank in the lead up to the Autumn Budget.

Officials at the ONS said the economy contracted 0.1 per cent in October in a devastating blow to the Government, as economists had expected it to grow.

It was revealed the economy also shrank 0.1 per cent in the three months to October, as Brits are left wondering why this has been the case.

Well, there appears to be a number of reasons why the UK economy contracted, with Chancellor, Rachel Reeves' Budget said to be one of these reasons.

Analysts have shared that consumers seemed to spend less in the month in the lead up to the Autumn Budget at the end of November.
