Londoners felt the heat as a striking fire sculpture, inspired by the Avatar movie emblem, lit up The Thames. The 11-metre tall artwork is the same height as a four-storey building, a lighthouse or three double-decker buses.
Towering above the water and weighing in at more than three tonnes, it depicts the iconic banshee symbol spreading its five-metre wingspan in front of the flaming signature ‘A’ emblem associated with the films. The incendiary display marks the arrival of Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third film in the franchise.
It was being reignited on London’s South Bank ahead of the film's premiere, by the film’s cast members Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Oona Chaplin, David Thewlis, Jemaine Clement and Jamie Flatters, costume designer Deborah Scott and composer Simon Franglen.
