Customers have been told not to consume the drink (Image: Getty Images)
An alcoholic drink that is popular over the festive period has been recalled and taken off shelves. Illva Saronno S.p.A is recalling Disaronno Originale because of the possible presence of small pieces of glass within some bottles of product, which could make it unsafe to drink.
Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling the affected products . These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought it.
If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be 'withdrawn' and customers are asked to return the product to stores for a full refund.
