LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Fayette County Sherriff’s Office announced that they have activated the Winter Care Program.

According to a press release, the program is meant to enhance safety and provide service to the community.

The sheriff’s office is providing the following services as part of the program:

Transportation to and from employment for those who are employed in the healthcare industry or professionals that provide direct healthcare services

Transportation to and from a critical medical appointment

Pick-up of critical prescription medications

Welfare checks for our most vulnerable citizens

Distribution of winter coats and blankets

Transportation to shelters
