RICH COUNTY — The Rich County Sheriff’s Office issued a citizen alert late Thursday evening after an unidentified man allegedly entered an unlocked residence without knocking, surprising a juvenile who was alone in the home.

The incident occurred between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 11 in the Laketown area. Authorities confirmed the man is not a resident of the home and is not known to the family.

The man is described as a white male with a short beard, wearing a darker colored shirt and possibly denim pants, and described only as "not old."

The Sheriff’s Office is urging all residents to increase security by keeping doors and windows locked. Authorities are asking the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings of the individual immediately.
