Lake-effect snow will persist into the weekend across Michigan, especially for those in snowbelt areas — including, the eastern Upper Peninsula which could get as much as 15 inches of snow by Monday, Dec. 15.

" Impactful winter weather returns this weekend in the form of moderate to heavy lake effect snow and dangerous wind chills," the Marquette National Weather Service said on X on Dec 12. "A cold front brings light snow to the UP before lake effect snow ramps up across the northwest wind snowbelts this afternoon (Dec. 11), persisting into Sunday (Dec. 14)."

The 24-hour forecast, through 7 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, shows parts of the Upper Peninsula could get heavy accumulation, with the most in the Keweenaw Peninsula — 7 inches. The eastern U.P. and the northwest region of the Lower P
