MASON, Mich. (WILX) - Nearly 100 children crossed items off their Christmas wishlists with help from local first responders during the 24th annual ‘Shop with a Hero’ event Thursday.
The event paired 92 participating local children with first responders to purchase toys and gifts at the Mason Meijer store. Workers from Central Records provided wrapping services for the gifts.
Participants were selected from families that need extra help this holiday season.
“Our first responders often see a lot of these kids or their families on their worst day, so this is something we really want to make a point to build that bridge, make that connection, a positive note with those kids, and just kinda building that bridge with the community and these families is really important to us,” said Capt. Andr
