BENTON CITY, Wash. – Benton City residents are preparing for unprecedented water levels as historic flooding continues to affect the state.

Throughout the week, water levels have been rising significantly. Local residents are getting ready for potential damage to their homes. Many are moving valuables and finding temporary shelter elsewhere.

Some residents are choosing to stay and withstand the flooding. Those who have experienced previous floods in the area, especially the 2011 floods, are preparing themselves for the worst.

David Becker, a local resident, shared his observations on the community's efforts.

"There some old people in here, some people on, income, the fixed income. And so everybody was helping each other and... everybody came together. It was a great community effort...
