NORFOLK, Va. — Sailors with USS Forrest Sherman (DDG-98) returned to Naval Station Norfolk after months at sea on Friday afternoon.
The crew has been on deployment since May , aiding in missions with the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group. Navy officials say the ship has participated in 11 exercises, nine port visits, and made around 300 flight deck landings with MH-60R Seahawks from Helicopter Maritime Strike (HSM) 70.
The Forrest Sherman is a multi-mission guided missile destroyer, and it is built to handle air, water, and surface warfare.
Meanwhile, another ship, USS Gravely (DDG-107), is scheduled to return over the weekend .
