WAWAYANDA, N.Y. — An off-duty Kingston police officer shot an Orange County man after an alleged road rage incident on Thursday, Dec. 11, leaving the man in critical condition, according to state police.

State Police said the off-duty Kingston Police Officer Anthony Simon, 33, was driving a 2021 Toyota Pickup on Dolsontown Road near the intersection of McVeigh Road at approximately 3:45 p.m. when he was involved in an approximately one-mile-long road rage incident with Wallace F. Fisher, 31, of Middletown, who was driving a 2020 Volkswagen.

Authorities said the incident escalated when Fisher exited the Volkswagen and approached Simon’s Toyota. Police said a verbal altercation erupted on the driver’s side window of the Toyota and subsequently
