“I just wasn't able to get a consistent training cycle,” she told RTÉ Sport during a visit to St Mark's Junior National School in Tallaght earlier today.
“It was several different injuries, from hamstring to groin to knee. They are all stimulating from a condition that I have and we are just trying to make sure that everything is managed and maintained.”
Adeleke said it was a “last-minute decision” to opt out of the Tokyo World Championships after straining her hamstring – her third hamstring injury across the year.
“So we had decided to call it quits for the season because it would have taken me too long to get back into shape.”
She has since recovered and has been back in hard training at the University of Texas, where she’s been based since 2021 under coach Edrick Floreal.
