BRUNSWICK, Maine — Two families are displaced after two separate fires in Brunswick on Friday afternoon.

Fire Chief Ken Brillant confirmed with NEWS CENTER Maine that crews responded to fires on Tufton Street and Libby Lane.

A person was trying to thaw out frozen pipes with a propane heater when a fire started under a trailer on Tufton Street at the Bay Bridge Estates Mobile Home Community, Brillant said.

Dust caught fire and traveled under the trailer, Brillant explained. The fire spread beneath the trailer from one end to the other.

The person was also underneath the trailer when firefighters arrived, Brillant said. Firefighters were able to get him out safely. He had inhaled smoke, but refused medical treatment.

Two people live at the residence. They are displaced and plan to stay
