Dungeons & Dragons has unveiled its next big video game, but I'm not convinced that this will be able to repeat Baldur's Gate 3 's magic trick. On one hand, I'm glad that D&D isn't trying to rush out a direct Baldur's Gate 3 successor, and the newly revealed Warlock being something completely different might be a good thing. On the other hand, the game's central ambition might be setting itself up for failure.

The Warlock reveal trailer at The Game Awards 2025 didn't give away too much, focusing less on gameplay and more on mood.
