SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - As freezing temperatures grow nearer, Sheriff Henry Whitehorn has released information to help prepare the Caddo Parish community for the cold:

Warming center locations for the homeless:

Shreveport Bossier Rescue Mission, located at 901 McNeil Street

Hope Connections, located at 2350 Levy Street

The Highland Center, located at 520 Olive Street (open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM)

Indoor safety tips:

Ensure that fuel-burning appliances are well-ventilated and inspected to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

Use electric heaters carefully to avoid shock or fire hazards.

Keep flammable materials at least three feet away from heat sources.

Only use heating equipment that is approved for indoor use.

Insulate all exposed pipes to protect them from freezing temperatu
