Since the 2020-21 school year, students at the Area Learning Center in Duluth have been engaged in the process of permanent relocation. During their time at Historic Old Central High School, Area Learning Center students enjoyed an entire school space. They had a common meeting area, a full gymnasium, a cafeteria with comprehensive hot food service, a nurse’s office, and a park across the street. Students with special needs had two classrooms and private meeting spaces. Each classroom had ample space for larger class enrollments. There was a spacious art room with a kiln and darkroom, a real science lab, and a music room with instruments.
