Durham Regional Police say a press conference will be held Monday morning in relation to the murder of Michael Ferdinand more than two years ago.
The 34-year-old Ferdinand was working as a security guard at the Pickering Casino Resort on Oct. 9, 2023, when police said he was gunned down shortly after 5 a.m.
Police Chief Peter Moreira, Det. Sgt. Erik Mamers, and the victim’s wife Mara Abolins will address the media at 11 a.m. in Whitby . They are expected to ask for any new information in connection with Ferdinand’s “tragic death.”
A month after Ferdinand’s killing, police said a 17-year-old boy was wanted in the deadly shooting.
“He was doing his job and ensuring the safety of all patrons of the casino,” Det. Sgt. Brad Corner said at a news conference back in November 2023.
