YUMA, AZ (AZFamily) — A blind dog is getting a second chance at life thanks to a man who rescued him from a remote area in Yuma.
While it’s not clear how the pup got there, Nathan Ivy, the man who rescued the dog, believes the dog was dumped and left alone.
Ivy says he was fishing at Mittry Lake last Saturday when he heard something in the distance.
“We could hear the dog out in these canyons barking and howling,” Ivy said.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and its animal control team couldn’t come out to help, so after 45 minutes of the dog continuing to bark, Ivy had to make a decision.
“We put the poles away and decided to go hiking to find out where it was coming from,” he said.
Ivy ventured through the rugged area until he found a 7- to 8-year-old dog trapped in a bush.
