Marcus Abeyta, a 32-year-old man from Emporia, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to producing child pornography with a minor he met while playing an online video game.

Chief U.S. District Court Judge Kristine G. Baker sentenced Abeyta on one count of production of child pornography.

The charge stems from an investigation that began on Dec. 3, 2023, when the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations in Arkansas was notified by a parent that they found sexually explicit and inappropriate conversations on their child’s iPad.

According to a press release, Abeyta met the minor on an online game where he invited the child to chat on the online communication platform Discord.
