A Year 6 pupil at a primary school in Ipswich is has launched a campaign to get a pedestrian crossing outside to make the road safer for other students.

Ava Shipp, who attends Cliff Lane Primary School, is being backed by the school community and a Suffolk councillor after she launched a campaign to get a pedestrian crossing.

The 10-year-old launched the campaign, which has now received backing from the entire school, in the hopes of making it safer.

She said: "The road gets very busy outside, with a lot of cars dropping pupils off for school.

"It is dangerous, and there have been some incidents and accidents. There could be a very nasty outcome.

“My petition calls for a light-controlled safety crossing to prevent accidents."
