HILLSBORO, Ore. — A year after a car crashed into a Hillsboro ice cream shop, the business reopened to a line of customers wrapped around the building Friday.
"I wouldn't have been able to do it without the entire Hillsboro community behind me," said Adrian Wakefield, owner of Jim's Ice Cream.
On Thanksgiving Day 2024, a car crashed through the ice cream shop, destroying the entire front end.
"It was truly devastating," said Wakefield. "It was the worst day of my life."
The days that followed were also tough. As crews worked to repair the building, Wakefield sold chocolates to help offset family expenses. The community also raised money through crowdfunding, excited to one day return to the beloved shop.
