MANISTIQUE — The Kingsford varsity swim team swept a three-team meet at Manistique on Tuesday afternoon, with the girls totaling 146 points to top Gladstone (94) and Manistique (58) and the boys scoring 111 points to edge the Braves (104) and Emeralds (74).

“The girls and boys team did well,” Flivvers head coach Jim Lindstrom said. “Manistique’s pool is too shallow for starting blocks and we don’t practice in-water starts because we only go there once a year. But we still had a few new qualifying swims.”

Sophomore Allison Deuter earned two more U.P. Finals qualifications, hitting the standard with wins in the 200 IM (2:32.06) and 100 freestyle (1:06.83). Juniors Kailey Matuszewski (1:14.08) and Olivia Sage (1:19.44) both qualified in the 100 backstroke, fishing second and third behind Gl
