The Metropolitan Police has decided not to launch a criminal investigation into reports that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor asked his bodyguard to investigate his accuser Virginia Giuffre.

The former prince reportedly asked his taxpayer-funded bodyguard to investigate Giuffre in 2011, hours before the emergence of an infamous picture of them together.

But Central Specialist Crime Commander Ella Marriott said the Met Police has dropped its investigation into the claims.

She said the Met Police’s assessment of the claims “has not revealed any additional evidence of criminal acts or misconduct”.
