A 21-year-old from Orillia walked away with what seems like just cuts and bruises after a plane crash in Sarnia Friday evening, city police say.

The Cessna 172N pilot had taken off from the Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre, and was able to crash through the plane’s windshield after impact, police said in a news release.

Emergency services were called to the are of Telfer Road and Michigan Line area around 9:25 p.m., police said in a social media post.

Upon arrival police said they found the pilot, the plane’s sole occupant, with a passing motorist who had stopped to help.

EMS treated the pilot at the scene before taking her to hospital, police said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by Transport Canada, police said.
